Be Scientific!

This quote from Dorothy Sayers is excellent! Why don't people know more about the Bible that they are rejecting?

Why do you want a letter from me? Why don't you take the trouble to find out for yourselves what Christianity is? You take time to learn technical terms about electricity. Why don't you do as much for theology? Why do you never read the great writings on the subject, but take your information from the secular "experts" who have picked it up as inaccurately as you? Why don't you learn the facts in this field as honestly as your own field? Why do you accept mildewed old heresies as the language of the church, when any handbook on church history will tell you where they came from?

Why do you balk at the doctrine of the Trinity "God the three in One" yet meekly acquiesce when Einstein tells you E=mc2? What makes you suppose that the expression "God ordains" is narrow and bigoted, while your own expression, "Science demands" is taken as an objective statement of fact?

Before you reject the claims of the Bible as false, at least read the Gospel of John.

No offense Ma'am. but 'what Christianity is", is the assembly of many religions into one as dictated by Constantine. Have you ever been to the catacombs? Seen the crosses and the fish symbols, and the mentions of a Trinity long before the arrival of the undocumented Joshua ben Josef? Now, I'm Roman Catholic born and raised, but I HAVE investigated and searched, wherever my travels took me, and there's nothing in the New Testament that wasn't worshipped as gospel many, many years before ben Josef. The manger, the virgin birth, the wise men, the star, the son of the father sent to atone but killed by an unruly mob...all of these things were prevalent in many beliefs of time beginning circa 500 bfore the common era, right up until old Consty decided enough was enough and crammed as many as could be fit into one house of worship.

Personal belief is just that. Personal. It just itches me to distraction when folks who've never been out of their living room go preaching about "learning", and parade their private matters for all the world to see. Time was we called these people exibitionists. Couple the unparallelled lack of knowledge to that and it only gets worse.

Anyway, have a good day, and may whatever version of the many deities rolled into one bless ya'.
